How We Research and Source Green Slip Facts

Every fact on this site should be traceable to an official page you can open yourself. This page explains which sources we use, how we date what we publish, and what we leave out.
GreenSlipInsurance.com.au is a general information site operated by Dominet BV. This page is general information only and is not financial, legal or insurance advice. It does not consider your objectives, financial situation or needs. We are not an insurer or broker, we don't sell green slips and we don't recommend any insurer. SIRA (the State Insurance Regulatory Authority) is the official source of green slip information in NSW, so check its website or your insurer before you act. Facts were checked on 30 October 2026. Read our general information notice.
The sources we use
We use primary sources only, in roughly this order:
- SIRA. The State Insurance Regulatory Authority regulates the NSW CTP scheme. We use its pages on buying green slips, prices, refunds and claims, its list of licensed insurers, its Motor Accident Guidelines and its published reports.
- The Green Slip Price Check. SIRA's Price Check for how quotes are compared.
- Service NSW and the NSW Government. Service NSW and nsw.gov.au for registration, renewals, transfers, cancellations and claim forms.
- NSW legislation. The Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017 and related laws on the NSW legislation website, where a guide needs the exact rule.
- Insurers' own websites. Only for facts about that insurer, such as how it handles renewals or cancellations.
We don't use comparison sites, forums or other publishers' articles as sources, and we don't copy their wording.
How we date facts
Each page lists its sources with the date we read them. Where an official page shows its own date, such as "updated 13 April 2026", we quote that date too.
Figures always carry their source and date, for example "as published by SIRA on" a given date. We don't estimate, round up or project prices, levies or refund amounts. If an official source doesn't publish a number, we don't publish one either.
How we write insurer fact sheets
All our insurer fact sheets follow one template. Each one:
- confirms the insurer is on SIRA's list of licensed CTP insurers, with the date of that list
- names the company that issues the policy, as shown on the insurer's own site
- sets out what the insurer's own pages say about quotes, renewals, terms, cancelling, refunds and claims, attributed to the insurer and dated
- leaves out marketing claims, awards and comparisons with other insurers
- lists what we left out and why
We list insurers in alphabetical order. That order isn't a ranking, and nothing on this site says which insurer to choose.
What we leave out
If we can't check a fact on an official page or the insurer's own site, it doesn't go on the page. We also don't publish phone numbers or email addresses. Official and insurer pages carry their own current contact details, and linking to them avoids sending you to an out-of-date number.
Reviews and corrections
Every page shows a published, updated and reviewed date. When SIRA or Service NSW changes a rule or publishes new figures, we update the pages that rely on them and change the updated date. If a fact turns out to be wrong or out of date, we correct it at the next review.
