Quick answer

- SIRA says all green slips have the same level of CTP cover, but prices may differ.

Youi is one of the six insurers licensed to sell green slips in NSW, and the last of the six to get its own fact sheet here. This page sets out what SIRA and Youi's own NSW CTP page say about quotes, paying, renewing, cancelling, refunds and claims. Youi's page is unusually specific about payment timing and refund paperwork, so those sections are longer. We read Youi's page on 1 November 2026 and SIRA's pages on 30 October 2026.
GreenSlipInsurance.com.au is a general information site operated by Dominet BV. This page is general information only and is not financial, legal or insurance advice. It does not consider your objectives, financial situation or needs. We are not an insurer or broker, we don't sell green slips and we don't recommend any insurer. SIRA (the State Insurance Regulatory Authority) is the official source of green slip information in NSW, so check its website or your insurer before you act. Facts were checked on 30 October and 1 November 2026. Read our general information notice. This fact sheet only uses facts from SIRA and Youi's own website. It isn't a review, and it doesn't compare Youi with other insurers.

What a Youi green slip covers
SIRA says all green slips have the same level of CTP cover, but they may not cost the same. So a Youi green slip gives you the cover set by the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017, the same as any other licensed insurer: injury and death caused by your vehicle. It does not cover damage to cars or property. Anyone hurt, including an at-fault driver, can apply for statutory benefits, with limits for people mostly at fault.
Youi's page agrees that CTP and green slip mean the same thing in NSW. It lists third party injury compensation claims caused by you or someone driving your vehicle, plus injuries caused by an attached trailer or caravan, and accidents anywhere in Australia. It says limited cover may be available for an at-fault driver's reasonable and necessary treatment, care and lost income, unless the driver is charged with a serious driving offence. Youi also notes some other states and territories have fault-based schemes where the at-fault driver cannot claim.
Youi excludes damage to or theft of your vehicle and attached trailer or caravan, and damage to other people's vehicles or property. Read our NSW green slip guide and CTP injury benefits guide for more on cover.
Getting a Youi green slip quote
Youi's page says quotes are available online or by phone. It asks for vehicle details and driving history. Its FAQ says premiums reflect accident frequency and average claim costs for the vehicle class and garaging region, GST input tax credit eligibility, and an amount for administration, claims handling and profit.
Youi says the price comprises the insurer's base premium, the government Fund Levy and GST. Insurers submit base premiums to SIRA for approval. Youi also says insurers cannot discount green slip prices because CTP is a statutory product. Our green slip cost guide explains pricing further.
SIRA's Motor Accident Guidelines version 10.1, from 12 December 2025, say an insurer must not refuse to quote for a vehicle that needs CTP. You must be able to get a quote without identifying yourself or providing a rego number. The quote must list the pricing factors used. If a factor on your quote is wrong, raise it before you pay.
Paying and when Transport for NSW is told
Youi's page says you can pay by credit card online or by phone, or through Post BillPay at Australia Post. For card payments, Youi says it sends the electronic green slip to Transport for NSW within one hour, usually immediately. Post BillPay can take up to five business days.
Youi points out that in NSW the green slip and the rego are separate. Private insurers sell CTP under SIRA's rules, the state runs registration, and you need the green slip first. You then register using the green slip before its use-by date. Brand new registrations and interstate vehicles must be registered in person at a Transport for NSW service centre.
Renewing a Youi green slip
Youi's page says CTP does not renew automatically. It sends renewal documents a few weeks before expiry. Customers receiving email get a pre-filled renewal quote. Customers receiving documents by post complete a new quote online.
Youi says existing customers can renew online using their policy number or vehicle rego and a credit card, or renew by phone. It also notes most NSW light vehicles older than five years need an eSafety check before rego renewal. That check is the pink slip. Our green slip and pink slip guide explains the distinction.
6 or 12 month terms
Youi's page lists six or 12 month cover. SIRA says green slips for most vehicles are generally sold for these terms, and the green slip term must match the rego term. A six month rego must be paid within 21 days of expiry. So pick the green slip term to match the rego you plan to pay. Our renewal guide covers the rules.
Cancelling and refunds
Youi's page, read on 1 November 2026, gives separate steps depending on whether you used the green slip:
- Used to register a vehicle. Cancel the rego through Service NSW and get a Confirmation of Cancelled Registration letter. Send it with Youi's CTP cancellation request form, putting the policy number in the subject line. Youi says it provides a partial refund for the unused portion.
- Not used to register a vehicle. Send the cancellation request form and a copy of the Youi green slip certificate. Youi says it provides a full refund for the unused policy.
Youi says refunds can take up to 20 business days. There may be an administration fee of $22 including GST, as published on 1 November 2026. Check Youi's page for the current amount. Our refund guide explains more about green slip refunds.
Write-offs, theft and moving interstate
Youi's page says you may be entitled to a refund of the unused portion if your vehicle is written off, stolen or registered in another state. It says to hand in the plates to Transport for NSW or report the vehicle stolen. Once Youi receives the Confirmation of Cancelled Registration letter, it cancels the policy and refunds the unused portion. An administration fee may apply.
Selling a car is different from cancelling it. Our buying and selling guide covers what happens to a green slip when a registered car changes hands.
Making a CTP claim
A CTP claim goes to the insurer of the vehicle at fault, which may not be Youi. For claims on a Youi policy, its page lists online claims through Service NSW, where you register or log in and upload a certificate of capacity/fitness from your doctor.
Youi also lists a paper Application for Personal Injury Benefits with the certificate, or claiming by phone. Our CTP claims guide covers the steps and time limits.
Other things Youi says on its page
Youi's FAQ describes the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme. It provides treatment, rehabilitation and attendant care for people severely injured in a motor accident regardless of fault. Examples include spinal cord injury, moderate to severe brain injury, some serious burns or amputations.
Youi's page says prices rose for new and renewing policies starting on or after 15 January 2026. It cites higher claims costs, more accidents and changes to claim entitlements, without figures. Youi also has a complaints page for CTP complaints.
Checking the price against other insurers
SIRA's free Green Slip Price Check shows quotes from all six licensed insurers. SIRA says to confirm the price with the insurer before buying. Our compare green slips guide explains the Price Check.
SIRA also publishes a quarterly claims experience and customer feedback comparison. The latest one we found covers June 2026.
What we left out
- Contact details. We leave out phone numbers, email addresses and postal addresses. Youi's NSW CTP page has its contact details.
- Fund Levy figures. Youi's page has a table of average Fund Levy amounts from 15 January 2026. We haven't matched those figures to a SIRA page, so we left them out. SIRA is the official source for the levy.
- Service claims and car insurance products. We leave out Youi's service claims and products outside CTP.
- Prices. We do not quote premiums.
